How to care for Soy Wax Candles

So, someone lovely gave you a Soy Wax candle for Christmas and now you’re ready to light that wonderfully scented little babe.

If you have never had a soy candle before, there are a few things you should know to get the most out of them!

First of all, soy wax has a memory. Sounds crazy I know, but it’s really important to let your soy wax melt right to the edge of the jar and create a full melt pool from side to side. Otherwise, your candle will melt down the middle and create a tunnel instead of burning beautifully and fully down to the bottom of the jar. If you do let your candle melt to the edge, you can expect to get the longest possible burn and enjoy your candle to the fullest!

Next, make sure that before you burn your candle, that you trim the wick by a 1/8-1/4inch. A pair of wick trimmers is a great tool that is shaped precisely for this job! removing the black and sometimes bulb-like top of the wick will avoid any smoking and will ensure your candle burns correctly each time you use it.

Third, for safety’s sake, please don’t burn you candle more than 4 hours at a time. The glass jar is very safe and heat tested but it’s best if you don’t just leave it to scent up your room for longer than 4 hours. (If you are looking for a more constant fragrance, our reed diffusers are a great option and come in all of our fragrances too 😉)

Finally, all of our candles come with a beautiful matte black metal lid and these are not just for show! Once your candle has been blown out and the wax has cooled, pop the lid back on to keep it dust free until your next lighting.

Thanks so much for reading! Now you’re ready to get the best out of your soy wax candles.
